How it works
Adding a product
- Tap + Add
- Scan the barcode → Product found automatically
- Point your camera at the expiry date → Recognized instantly
- Adjust quantity if needed
- Tap Save
Managing products
- Tap a product to edit name, date, or quantity
- Swipe left to delete
- Long press to delete with confirmation
- Use search to quickly find products
Notifications
Aki sends a quiet notification 3 days before a product expires.
To enable notifications:
Settings → Notifications → Aki
Troubleshooting
Barcode not scanning
- Make sure camera permission is enabled
- Try better lighting
- Some products may not exist in the OpenFoodFacts database
- Use Enter name manually if needed
Date not recognized
- Point the camera clearly at the expiry date
- Try different angles or lighting
- Use Enter date manually if recognition fails
Days remaining not updating
Days refresh when the app is opened again.
If the value looks incorrect, close and reopen the app.
Notifications not working
Check that notifications are enabled:
Settings → Notifications → Aki
Notifications appear only 3 days before expiry.
Privacy
Aki stores all data locally on your device.
The only external request is:
- Barcode lookup to OpenFoodFacts.org (open food database)
Aki collects no personal data.
